Our story

A school born to say thank you

The Menorah Foundation is the flagship social project of Colombia’s Jewish community. From day one, its heart has been the education of girls.

Where we come from

The Jewish community found a home in Colombia when many countries were closing their doors. In 1974, Lia Ganitsky and the women of B’nai B’rith founded Colegio Tecnico Menorah to thank the country through education.

Lia’s view of women’s role in society was far ahead of her time. That is why the school was designed for girls from low-income families: a quality education so they can build their own future and transform their families and communities.
